12 nominees shortlisted for the “Hotel Property Award 2017”

14 Sep 2017

Munich/Hamburg, 14. September 2017 – The nominated hotels have been chosen for the “Hotel Property Award 2017”, which will be presented on Friday, 6 October at hotelforum. The 17-member expert jury selected its 12 favourite hotels from among the 50 applicants in 12 European countries when it met at the Reichshof Hamburg CURIO Collection by Hilton, which was the winning hotel in 2016.

Architect Jan-Oliver Meding, Managing partner of MPP and spokesperson of the hotelforum jury: “We received a record number of entries this year, but we also had a unique diversity and quality in terms of the hotel concepts. We therefore decided at the jury meeting to nominate 12 hotels this year, seven of which are from Germany and five from other European countries.” These are the following hotels in alphabetical order:

25hours Hotel Langstrasse (Zurich, Switzerland)

Bretterbude (Heiligenhafen, Germany)

DOCK INN Hostel Warnemünde (Germany)

Haymarket by Scandic (Stockholm, Sweden)

HOTEL LUNGARNO (Florence, Italy)

Hotel Oderberger Berlin (Germany)

Motel One Berlin-Upper West (Germany)

Novotel London Canary Wharf (United Kingdom)

Provocateur (Berlin, Germany)

Roomers (Baden-Baden, Germany)

Sir Nikolai (Hamburg, Germany)

Andreas Martin, Managing Director of hotelforum management GmbH: “The European hotel market has never been so heterogeneous. This is demonstrated by the innovativeness of this year’s applications for the ‘Hotel Property Award’. The industry is increasingly finding coherent concepts to win back customer segments that it has lost to Airbnb. Adapting the uses to which existing properties are put makes them increasingly flexible, and holiday hotels are also continuing to put forward new ideas to create interesting properties which attract people from all generations.”

According to hotelforum, the important thing when it comes to selecting the nominees is the interplay between the three overriding aspects consisting of design quality, economic efficiency and innovation.

The winner of the “Hotel Property Award 2017” will be announced at a gala evening to be held on 6 October.
