hotelforum: The Schgaguler Hotel in Castelrotto/Kastelruth, South Tyrol, is the winner of the “Hotel Property Award 2019”.

Munich, 15 October 2019 – This year’s “Hotel Property Award 2019” went to the Schgaguler Hotel in Castelrotto/Kastelruth, South Tyrol. The prize was awarded at the hotelforum gala evening held on 9 October. Andreas Martin, Managing Director of hotelforum management GmbH, said: “On the one hand, this year’s award winner has distinguished itself through its consistent stylistic implementation of the repositioning of an outdated apartment hotel concept by the architect Peter Pichler. At the same time, however, the Schgaguler family also succeeded in bringing about a change from the generation of the parents to their four children. Three of the children are responsible for the day-to-day running, whilst their eldest brother, who is a photographer, shares responsibility for the interior design of the hotel, and their parents continue to look after the holiday guests on a personal basis”.

Andreas Martin, Managing Partner of hotelforum management GmbH: “The QO Amsterdam won the hotelforum jury over both with its consistently sustainable concept and with its high quality standards. hotelforum: 12 nominees shortlisted for the “Hotel Property Award 2018”

Andreas Martin, Chairman of the hotelforum jury: “Once more this year, the creative variety and international diversity of the 52 excellent applications left the interdisciplinary jury with the challenge of highlighting 12 special hotel concepts. It is interesting to note that only five of the nominated hotels are newly built. The intelligent conversion or refurbishment of existing properties is therefore increasingly coming into the spotlight of sustainable hotel developments.”

hotelforum: 52 hotels from 13 countries are applying for the European “Hotel Property Award 2018”

Andreas Martin chairs the hotelforum jury: "The record number of entries from 52 applicants reflects the number of recent openings, and is also a gratifying confirmation of the competition itself. I am particularly pleased about the growing number of applicants from other European countries. The variety of applications shows how innovative the European hotel property market has now become. The 'upcycling' approaches are interesting here too, both in terms of materials, as well as for hotels for which there is no longer a place on the market, or for former office premises."
